Copywriting
A good copywriter knows which words
trigger the feelings that compel people to make decisions. They write with
flair, making it easy for people to be drawn into what they are saying about
your business, services or products. Read an an example of good copywriting for a
fictitious Sydney Mercedes Dealer, or
just "ok"
website copy for a Used Mercedes dealer.
Trademarks
The most effective way to safeguard you against people "trading off" your business name, product or service, is to register a trademark. For more information, including about the justweb® trade mark, please read our

I've written several articles about Video SEO (vSEO), but it still amazes me
how many promises certain companies* make in relation to their expertise
with ranking videos in Google, and have no "proof" of their expertise on
show.
Anyway, I'm afraid I'm a bit of a "proof is in the pudding" kind of guy, so when I was
asked recently what value I could bring to the table with regards to Video SEO,
I thought that all the words in the world are not as good as one (or more) good
visual demonstrations.
So, on Wednesday 23 November I compiled some relevant information, and
downloaded a video about the target subject, the all new Freightliner Argosy
truck, or more specifically, its cabin (one of a series of videos created about
the new model).
On Wednesday night (23 November), I made the article and video live on justweb®.
The page, images, and video had all been optimised and targeted. The following is a rough
timeline to show how long it can take to rank a video in Google for a "normal"
website - as opposed to video "powerhouses" like YouTube or Vimeo.
The page was made live on justweb® late Wednesday night
By early Thursday morning the article had been picked up by Google
By Friday Google became aware there was also a video embedded in the
page and had indexed the pager itself
By Saturday Google had indexed the video
On Sunday Google was displaying the video in the SERPs (search engine
results pages)
So that's it, simple. Less than four days to create a page and video, and get
it ranking in Google for multiple keyword searches (see screen capture). Will it stay there? Who
knows - that's up to Google. Of the 20 or so videos I have ranking in the search
engine, some stay in the same position consistently, while others seem to be in
a rotational cycle. I suggest it has a bit to do with relevance and freshness.
Less than 24 hours to rank a video using Video SEO
Just to prove the first Freightliner video search result wasn't just a "happy accident", I repeated the process, this time focussing
on the Freightliner Argosy engine.
At 5.30pm on 28 November, I uploaded a further article about the Freightliner,
along with an optimised video about the engine.
However, this time the timeline for ranking was different. Unlike with the first
video page, nothing appeared in Google for about 16 hours. Then, all at once,
the search engine had crawled the paged, found the video, and began to display
the video in search results (eg, for "Freightliner engine").
As you can see from the screen capture, a video search result appearing in the
"normal" organic SERPs stands out far more than simple text based results.
You may ask, as I am often, should you use YouTube or Vimeo (for example), or
embed video in your own website and use Video SEO to optimise? The answer is
both.
YouTube allows for the easy distribution, syndication, or sharing, of your
video, and a way for people to find your video through related searches and
videos on YouTube. Certainly you can, and SHOULD use basic SEO techniques in
conjunction with your YouTube videos, such as targeted title and keywords, but
you will still be a "blade of grass in a forest".
However, for pure SEO "power" to help your primary "home on the Internet", you
should consider embedding at least one video in your website to make you stand
out from the crowd. Also, the more video content you have, the better off you
are too - or so it seems.
