Copywriting
A good copywriter knows which words
trigger the feelings that compel people to make decisions. They write with
flair, making it easy for people to be drawn into what they are saying about
your business, services or products. Read an an example of good copywriting for a
fictitious Sydney Mercedes Dealer, or
just "ok"
website copy for a Used Mercedes dealer.
Trademarks
The most effective way to safeguard you against people "trading off" your business name, product or service, is to register a trademark. For more information, including about the justweb® trade mark, please read our

Comments: According to my website statistics, Internet Explorer market share has
dropped. Last year it was at 62.24%, with Firefox at 27.74%. Understandably,
browsers like Safari have increased their market share as Macintosh makes more
headway, and of course mobile browser usage has become more common.
Comments: Gradually we are getting rid of IE6 (THANKFULLY!). Compared to last year's statistics, IE7 54%, IE6 23%, IE8 22%. Now IE8 usage is
up to 28% so far in 2010, and IE6 use has dropped by a further 10% or so. That's
a very good thing folks :-)
Comments: Windows has lost slight market share, but the operating system
is still dominating - last
year showing 90.81% use, and this year 88.16%. Macintosh has improved its market share
by about 1.5%.
Versions of Windows Operating Systems
1. XP 71,538 60.63%
2. Vista 27,676 23.46%
3. Windows 7 16,297 13.81%
4. Server 2003 1,860 1.58%
5. 2000 548 0.46%
6. 98 44 0.04%
7. CE 11 0.01%
8. ME 5 > 0.00%
9. NT 3 > 0.00%
10. 95 2 > 0.00%
Comments: Windows XP still dominates, with only a 3% drop in Vista use. I'm a
little shocked to be honest because having used all three operating systems, XP
is good, Vista is RUBBISH (think coffee coaster is only use for disc), and
Windows 7 is FANTASTIC! If you are in business and you're still using XP, I
highly recommend you go to Windows 7. But take the opportunity to replace your
hard drive(s) and do a full install - don't upgrade.
Comments: It seems to me that Mac owners are more proactive when it comes to
upgrading their operating systems. 2009 showed 10.5 at 57.58% and 10.4 at
11.88%. This year, we have the emergence of 10.6 at 40.48%, 10.5 and 10.4 has
dropped, and PPC has almost disappeared.
Operating Systems & Browser combinations (79 in total)
1. Internet Explorer / Windows 72,396 54.09%

4. Safari / Macintosh 7,296 5.45%
5. Firefox / Macintosh 4,083 3.05%
6. Safari / iPhone 1,443 1.08%
7. Firefox / Linux 999 0.75%
8. Opera / Windows 979 0.73%
9. Mozilla / Linux 521 0.39%

15. Opera Mini / (not set) 108 0.08%
Comments: Last year there were 632 different screen resolutions, compared to this
year (so far) at 693. That's one hell of a lot of different screen sizes!
When you come across websites which still say "this website was designed for
(insert size) screen resolution", please tell the owner to redesign their
website!
Java support
1. Yes 118,972 88.89%
2. No 14,863 11.11%
Comments: Java support has dropped from last year. This includes Java AND
JavaScript (two different things), so it is more likely that support for Java
has dropped, especially considering the prevalence of JavaScript reliant coding
such as jQuery.
Comments: Broadband use has increased dramatically, both in ADSL and cable
formats.

8. Road Runner Holdco llc 1,592
9. Adam Internet pty ltd 1,512
10. Primus Telecommunications 1,468
Comments: BigPond (Telstra) still dominates the market - at least here in
Australia. The order of ISPs hasn't changed that much from last year - still
Telstra, Optus, iiNet and TPG in the first four positions.
Comment: Again, not much has changed here. Google still obliterates the
opposition, and will still do so when Bing and Yahoo! combine for search. Having
said that, Bing use is still about 300% higher than Yahoo already. But don't
forget, these are justweb® stats - this could simply mean Bing likes my website
better than Yahoo! does :-)
