Copywriting
A good copywriter knows which words
trigger the feelings that compel people to make decisions. They write with
flair, making it easy for people to be drawn into what they are saying about
your business, services or products. Read an an example of good copywriting for a
fictitious Sydney Mercedes Dealer, or
just "ok"
website copy for a Used Mercedes dealer.
Trademarks
The most effective way to safeguard you against people "trading off" your business name, product or service, is to register a trademark. For more information, including about the justweb® trade mark, please read our
trademark registration article.
When using image files on your website, it is VERY important to name the file
correctly, and to add "alt text" to the image in the html code.
One reason for this is accessibility, and compliance with current coding
standards as defined by the W3C (www.w3c.org).
However, by adding a descriptive filename, as well as optimised alt text, you
will further enhance your website's attractiveness to Google.
Heres a familiar scenario: You've taken a photo of your Real Estate office.
Straight out of the digital camera the filename is probably something like
"DSC280109.jpg".
Some people would simply use that file unchanged. VERY bad!
Some people may change the filename to "office.jpg". Not so bad, but still
not optimal.
If you want to help your site, you would change it to an optimised name like
"real-estate-sydney.jpg" (for example).
Always use lowercase for your filenames, and never use the default filename.
But it's not just Google that will help you with this. Here is another example
from an image search engine in the Philippines where their image search result
has been picked by Google's search engine - "business
directories" (the girl sitting on a chair with a laptop computer).
It is important that you add "alt text" to every image to not only improve
accessibility to your website, but to enhance your optimisation. This is also a
requirement of W3C standards for website development coding.
