Copywriting

Website Copywriting A good copywriter knows which words trigger the feelings that compel people to make decisions. They write with flair, making it easy for people to be drawn into what they are saying about your business, services or products. Read an an example of good copywriting for a fictitious Sydney Mercedes Dealer, or just "ok" website copy for a Used Mercedes dealer.

Trademarks

Trademark Registration The most effective way to safeguard you against people "trading off" your business name, product or service, is to register a trademark. For more information, including about the justweb® trade mark, please read our trademark registration article.

Just starting off your website, or thinking of rebranding your business, including your domain name? Do you have several options for domain names? My advice is register them all - NOW!

Why?

I have long suspected that certain domain name registration companies may take advantage of domain searches performed through their systems, and in all likelihood add one (or all) of your searches to their premium domain names list.

What I mean by that is explained in the following scenario:

Premium Domain Names You brainstorm a few ideas for website domain names, then proceed to a registrar's website to search if they are available or not. You may find some are taken, some are not.

The next step is workshop which would suit you best.

Now, I often wondered if there may be some system in place which would record what is being searched for, then perhaps use that as an indication of the value of a particular domain. If in fact this is the case, as it seems to be from the example below, you might class this as an act of industrialised gouging.

Let me offer this real life example and observation:

A lawyer friend of mine was working on behalf of a client. They were looking for the best trading, trademark and domain name for the business, and in the process went through multiple options - all of which were quite unique.

After some debate and workshopping, a decision was made, and the "paperwork" started - including the registration of the domain name.

To the lawyer's complete surprise and amazement, the quite unique domain name they had settled on had since been registered, parked, and included in a list of "premium domains" for sale at a greatly inflated sale price (it jumped from $40.00 to $1500.00!!).

Summary

The cost of registering a few domains names would be far less than having to workshop a new domain name, OR pay an inflated price for what used to be a (eg) $40.00 domain name. So, if you are considering a few domain names which you feel are, or may be important to your business branding, regsiter them NOW - don't hesitate!

By the way, I don't believe ALL domain registrars use this tactic, but it seems at least some help to populate their premium domain names database with domains which have been searched for by users of their service.
